Iraq Claims ISIS’ Second-In-Command Killed in Coalition-Led Airstrike on Mosque, US Denies Attack

The Iraqi Ministry of Defence released statement on Thursday that claims is U.S.-led airstrikes in northern Iraq that targeted a mosque and killed Abdul Rahman Mustafa Mohammed, the man believed to be the second-in-command of terror group ISIS.

Iraqi spokesman Brig-Gen Tahsin Ibrahim said that Mohammed, also known by other names, was at a mosque near Tal Afar when it was hit by airstrikes, BBC News reported.

“Based on accurate intelligence, an airstrike by the coalition forces targeted the second in command of IS, Abu Alaa al-Badri,” the Iraqi Defence Ministry said in a statement.

American military officials have denied that coalition planes took part in any such attack, however, and there is no way to indepednetly confirm Mohammed’s reported death.

Ibrahim insisted, however, that Mohammed was killed alongside dozens of other ISIS militants at the al-Shuhada mosque in the village of al-Iyadhiya. Tal Afar, located in the Nineveh province, was captured by ISIS back in June 2014.

The Governor of Nineveh, Atheel al-Nujaifi, reportedly told the BBC that his sources also confirmed that Mohammed was killed.

The terror group has seized a number of cities across Iraq and Syria, but has been heavily targeted by U.S.-led airstrikes seeking to aid local ground troops in their fight against the jihadists.

Also known as Abu Alaa al-Afari, the man believed to be ISIS’ second-in-command, was heavily sought after by coalition forces, with a U.S. $7 million bounty on his head.

The fate of ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi also remains unclear. Reports emerged in late April that the jihadist leader may have been seriously injured during another airstrike operation, and several reports said that ISIS has already chosen another man, a former Iraqi physics teacher, as his replacement.

Hisham al Hashimi, an Iraqi government adviser, said in an interview in April that Abu Alaa Afri has been chosen by ISIS’ leadership to take over Baghdadi’s duties, if the latter succumbs to his injuries.

“After Baghdadi’s wounding, he [Afri] has begun to head up Daesh [arabic term for ISIS] with the help of officials responsible for other portfolios,” Hashimi said. “He will be the leader of Daesh if Baghdadi dies.”

Baghdadi has not reemerged since the reports appeared, but U.S. forces have been unable to confirm one way or another if he is alive or not.

There is always someone who wants to be the next Kate or Naomi, but despite what the movies tell us, becoming a model isn’t just about being tall and beautiful. It’s about having the uniqueness, talent and drive to back up those looks. In this article, we will give you some tips that will hopefully teach you how to be a model.

Know the Type of Modeling you Want to Do

The first step in becoming a model is knowing what type of modeling you want to do. There are quite a few areas to choose from–print focuses on magazine photo shoots while runway models walk the catwalk for labels. There are also more commercial options such as being a swimsuit or catalogue model. Plus size modeling has made an impact in the recent years too. No matter which area you choose, most female models start at the very minimum height of 5’7″ but closer to 6’0″ is preferred.

Find the Right Agency

Now, that you have figured out what type of modeling you want to do–look for an agency that specializes in the field. You can search online for agencies quite easily. A simple “model agency” query will garner a lot of results. Search for an agency that’s local to your area, and it’s important to remember to research an agency first. Think: What models do they represent? What type of jobs do they book? Are there complaints online about this agency?
And remember, if an agency asks for money upfront, you should stay away. So called “modeling” schools are also suspect too. There are plenty of scammers out there looking to take advantage of aspiring talent.

Take the Right Photos

After you have researched the right agencies for the field you are interested in, you will want to contact them. Most agencies have forms online where you can send in your photos and stats. Stats include your height, measurements and weight. They will also want to see photos of you. Don’t worry, you do not need to get a professional shoot done. Simple digital photos are what most agencies require. Make sure to do a head shot and full-length shot. Wear no makeup and a simple tank top and pants. Take the photo in natural light so people can see your features. Look for a response within (usually) 4 weeks.
Some agencies will do open calls, where they will see aspiring models from the street–bring your digitals or past professional work printed out. Once again, keep your styling minimal. You may be told you are not what they’re looking for or get a callback later.

Think Ahead

If you are lucky enough to get signed, you should also know all the difficulties that come with the job. Depending on the jobs you book, traveling can take you away from home a lot. Rejection is also something, especially at the beginning of the career, you need to get used to. Even if signed, some models have part-time jobs. That’s why we recommend having a backup plan just in case your modeling career doesn’t pan out. But, if you manage to make it, there is a world of opportunities. Models like Gisele Bundchen, Cindy Crawford and Kate Moss have transformed their looks into lucrative careers with their business smarts. Think ahead, always!

Patrice Evra will shake Suarez’s hand in final

                 Evra Patrice

Juventus defender Patrice Patrice Evra confirmed he will shake Luis Suarez’s hand before the Champions League final with Barcelona despite their troubled past over a racism row.

Suarez was banned for eight matches after being found guilty of racially abusing Evra during their time at Liverpool and Manchester United respectively.

The two then refused to shake hands in one further meeting between the sides, but Evra insists he will put that behind him when they come face-to-face in Berlin on June 6.

I am proud to be what I am, I am proud about my colour and I will shake his hand, it is no problem, but I will make sure he will feel me on the pitch,” said the Frenchman.

Barca are the favourites to win their fifth European Cup with their star front three of Suarez, Lionel Messi and Neymar having scored 114 goals between them this season.
However, despite it being Juventus’s first Champions League final in 12 years, Evra believes they have the experience to stop Barca’s progress towards a treble.

People forget Juventus is a team with a lot of players that have already won the Champions League. They played in other finals too, like myself, this is my fifth final.
“I believe in everything, because if I don’t believe we can win against Barcelona, I will ask the manager not to play me.”

Juventus booked their place in the final with a 1-1 draw at Real Madrid on Wednesday to seal a 3-2 aggregate win over the holders.

Former Real striker Alvaro Morata came back to haunt his former side as, having already scored in the first leg, he notched the vital away goal for the Italian champions after Cristiano Ronaldo had opened the scoring from the penalty spot.

We have fought so hard to get here, but this does not end here. We want to win the final and make history, but we’re very happy,” said Morata.

I didn’t celebrate the goal, I was never going to. It was a bittersweet and strange sensation for me. These two games have been difficult for me. I want to thank the Madrid fans, I wish I had scored against another team.
“My former teammates want us to win and they wished me the best.
“Just like in Turin, it was hard for me at times tonight but I had to focus my head quickly. That’s what football is like.”

Containing ‘MSN’ will be a huge task

Luis Suarez, Lionel Messi and Neymar

Stopping prolific Barcelona forwards Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez in the Champions League final will be a formidable task, Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri said after his side clinched their place in next month’s showpiece in Berlin.

Juve eliminated holders Real Madrid 3-2 on aggregate thanks to a 1-1 draw in Wednesday’s semifinal second leg at the Bernabeu and will bid for a third continental title when they meet four-times winners Barca at the Olympic Stadium on June 6.

Juve’s hopes will hinge on whether they can thwart Barca’s South American attacking trident of Messi, Neymar and Suarez, known in Spain as ‘MSN’, who have rattled in a club-record 114 goals between them in all competitions this season.

Neymar scored three and Messi struck twice as Barca eased past Bayern Munich 5-3 on aggregate in their Champions League semifinal.
Messi is joint top scorer with Real’s Cristiano Ronaldo in the latest edition of Europe’s elite club competition with 10 goals. Neymar has netted nine times and Suarez six.

Anything is possible in one game but it will be a mountain of task to contain a team boasting the likes of Messi, Suarez and Neymar,” Allegri told a news conference.
“Still, I am not thinking about Barcelona or the possibility of winning a treble just yet because we first have the Italian Cup final against Lazio,” he added.

Both Juve and Barca have a chance of completing a treble of Champions League and domestic league and Cup titles.

Juve have wrapped up a fourth successive Serie A triumph, while Barca can clinch a fifth La Liga title in seven years with a win at last Atletico Madrid on Sunday. They play Athletic Bilbao in the King’s Cup final at the end of the month.

The Champions League final will pit Uruguay striker Suarez against Juve’s Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini, who Suarez bit on the shoulder at last year’s World Cup finals in Brazil.

Suarez, who subsequently joined Barca from Liverpool, was banned for four months and it will be the first time they have faced each other since the incident.

Hazard doubles up with Footballer of Year

            Eden Hazard

Eden Hazard was named England’s Footballer of the Year on Tuesday after his consistently outstanding performances throughout the season helped Chelsea win the Premier League title.

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane was second in the voting by members of the English Football Writers Association with Hazard’s Chelsea club mate and captain John Terry third.

The 24-year-old Belgian international midfielder adds the award to the Professional Footballers Association (PFA) honour he collected last month and becomes the first player from his country to claim the accolade since it was launched in 1948.

Only two other Chelsea players have won England’s most prestigious and soccer’s oldest individual honour – Gianfranco Zola in 1997 and Frank Lampard in 2005.

Kane, who has scored 30 goals in his first full season for Spurs and was awarded his first England cap, was named the PFA’s Young Player of the Year last month, while defensive rock Terry has played every minute of every Premier League game to date.

FWA chairman Andy Dunn told Reuters:
The list of truly world class players on the Football Writers’ Association roll of honour is a long one and Eden Hazard is a worthy addition.
“A creator, a goalscorer and the hardest of workers, he has been a constant source of threat for the champions.
“He has started all 36 Premier League matches Chelsea have played so far and, considering the particularly close attention he receives from opponents, that is a feat in itself.
“His electrifying, attacking talent has made him the first Belgian to win the Footballer of the Year award.
“He is a brilliant successor to Luis Suarez and we just hope he stays in the Premier League for a lot longer than Luis did after collecting the trophy.”

Uruguay striker Suarez, who won the award after scoring 31 goals for Liverpool last season, joined Spanish giants Barcelona before the start of this campaign.

Hazard collected 53 percent of the vote making him a comfortable winner, while he and Terry’s Chelsea teammates Cesc Fabregas, Branislav Ivanovic and goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois also featured in the top 10.

Four other players received votes: Alexis Sanchez of Arsenal, David De Gea of Manchester United, Sergio Aguero of Manchester City and Esteban Cambiasso of Leicester City.

On this Time in 2013: Fergie farewell

            Alex Ferguson

Sir Alex Ferguson took charge of his last Manchester United home match as his side collected the Barclays Premier League trophy for the 13th time.

Ferguson’s 723rd match at Old Trafford ended in victory against Swansea City thanks to Rio Ferdinand’s first goal for five years.

After the match the 71-year-old joined his players on the pitch and addressed the crowd, saying: “I have been very fortunate. I’ve been able to manage some of the greatest players in the country, let alone Manchester United.

“My retirement doesn’t mean the end of my life with the club. I’ll be able to now enjoy watching them rather than suffer with them.”

With the title already secured and Swansea comfortably in the top half of the table, there was a carnival atmosphere at Old Trafford with Ferguson firmly in the spotlight.

Both sets of players formed a guard of honour to welcome him out of the tunnel before kick-off and the scoreboard showed the figures 26:38 to mark his years in charge and number of trophies won.
Midfielder Paul Scholes was also bidding farewell to the home crowd in his 717th appearance for the club, having announced his retirement.

Javier Hernandez put United ahead in the 39th minute when he made the most of a misplaced clearance by Ashley Williams to fire home a low shot.

Four minutes after halftime Swansea were level when Michu superbly flicked in Nathan Dyer’s cross for his 18th Barclays Premier League goal of the season.

Wayne Routledge missed a great chance to put the Swans ahead and David de Gea denied Pablo Hernandez.
But the final word went to Ferdinand who arrived at the far post to power the ball into the net and give Ferguson’s big day a fitting send-off.
