Over 50 head of states would be attending the inauguration ceremony of president-elect Muhammudu Buhari, the chairman of media and publicity sub- committee of the presidential inauguration planning committee, Chief Edem Duke announced on Friday.

Speaking to journalists in Abuja, on the preparations for the one week programme, which started on Friday with Jumaat prayer at the National Central Mosque, Abuja, Duke said invitation cards have been distributed to all 54 countries in Africa as well as other nations outside Africa.

Duke, who is also the Minister of Culture and Tourism also said there are numerous interest from head of states outside Africa to attend the ceremony.
Speaking on the security to be provided while the Head of states arrive, Duke said all leaders and their accompanying aides will be screened why the best security will be provided.
The minister said there will be road blocks so the convoy carrying the outgoing and incoming presidents to and fro the Eagle Square, the venue of the inauguration will not have to face traffic.
The minister said: “The security agencies are working in close concert to ensure that there is absolutely no threat to the security of this inauguration.”
“Arrangements are been made to screen all the invitees long before they access the perimeters of the location.”
Earlier today, reports emerged that Buhari traveled on a British Airways plane to London with controversial Minister of Petroleum, Diezani Alison-Madueke.
Sources inside Buhari’s family added that he was traveling to London for the weekend and is likely to return to Nigeria on Tuesday, in time for the inauguration ceremony.
